Fiat 133 and Zanella Motorcycle – Valtyna
For many of us, buying our first car requires sacrifices: saving money for years, working multiple jobs, or even taking out a bank loan. Javi's story began when he was just 17 years old and made a difficult decision—leaving behind his Zanella Due 110 motorcycle to pursue his dream of owning his very first car. Once a dream takes hold, it's hard to let it go. For Javi, nothing was going to stop him, despite the obstacles he faced, including having little driving experience and not yet holding a driver's license.
Javi had to make a difficult choice: trade his Zanella Due 110 for a Fiat 133. Although he had doubts, he eventually went through with the exchange. That raises an interesting question: Which would you have chosen—the Zanella 110 or the Fiat 133?
As Javi recalls, "During the first week, everything was pure excitement. Spontaneous drives and rides with friends." The feeling of freedom that comes with owning your first car is something everyone should experience. Even though it was an old, small, and simple vehicle, to its owner it was something truly unique and special.
Like every great story, this one had both joyful and difficult moments. Although Javi considered it a bad decision at the time, today he sees it as an important lesson and a memorable life experience.
Shortly after the trade, the Fiat began suffering serious mechanical problems. Eventually, the gearbox failed completely. Without enough money to repair it and with very limited options, Javi made the difficult decision to sell the car for parts. A first car may not be the fastest, the newest, or the most reliable vehicle you'll ever own, but it will almost certainly create unforgettable memories that stay with you forever.
Gearbox – ML (Valtyna)
What Is a Gearbox, and What Happens When It Fails?
The gearbox is one of the most important components of any vehicle. Its purpose is to transfer power from the engine to the wheels through different gear ratios, allowing the car to move efficiently while adapting its performance to different driving conditions. (RO-DES, n.d.)
Signs of a failing gearbox include difficulty shifting gears, metallic noises, vibrations, loss of power, and in severe cases, the vehicle may stop moving altogether. Repairing a gearbox is often expensive, especially in older vehicles where replacement parts are becoming increasingly difficult to find. For this reason, many owners choose to sell the vehicle instead of repairing it.
Tips for Buying Your First Car
When buying a used vehicle, there are several important factors to consider. First, check its mileage. A typical car averages around 10,000 kilometers per year, meaning a five-year-old vehicle should have approximately 50,000 km. If the mileage is significantly higher, its market value generally decreases compared to similar models. It is also highly recommended to have the vehicle professionally inspected. Technical inspection centers evaluate the car's mechanical condition, verify whether it has been involved in accidents, check if it has been reported stolen through insurance databases, and confirm that the chassis number matches the vehicle's official records.
